Bio
Kathi Herrin is a native Texan, born in Dallas. She and her husband relocated to Austin in 2000. Once she got settled in, she enrolled at Austin Community College and declared art as her major.
While working part time for a local architecture firm and going to school, Herrin became active in the Austin art scene in 2004 establishing three dba's Art Works by Kathi Herrin, Photography by Kathi Herrin and a greeting card line, Kat Kards.
She joined a local art group in 2005 and kick started her visual arts career through networking, exhibiting and also participating as a volunteer with The Creative Arts Society in Austin, TX as exhibit chair and then publicity chair.
In 2008, coupling her accounting and bookkeeping skills with her visual arts skills, she founded and opened Real Gallery Austin. Herrin operated her gallery in leased commercial spaces and also in pop up venues promoting local artists in fine art exhibitions.
In 2012, Kathi decided to take a break from the gallery operations to spend some time working on her own art work. She took a class in ceramics and fell in love with the medium of clay which catapulted her into a new direction as a visual artist. Herrin studied ceramics at the Dougherty Arts Center, The Art School at LaGuna Gloria, Austin Community College and at Texas State University in San Marcos. She obtained her associates in art at Austin Community College in 2013 and received a BFA with a Major in Studio Art Ceramics at Texas State University in San Marcos, TX in 2016.
Herrin volunteered in the ceramic studio at Imagine Art Austin, TX during the Fall of 2015 and Spring of 2016.
Kathi completed an internship in ceramics at Feats of Clay Austin TX during the summer of 2016 and was invited to join the studio as a result.
She is a member of art organizations that include Greater Austin Clay Artists, Texas Clay Arts Association, Texas Sculpture Group and Texas Society of Sculptors.

Combining her studio practice as a ceramic artist at Feats of Clay and her love for the gallery scene as an assistant at Link & Pin Gallery, she experiences the best of both worlds.
